Advantages of Lithium Ion Batteries:

Lithium-ion batteries have the following significant advantages over other types of batteries.

(1) The working voltage is high. The working voltage of lithium cobalt oxide lithium ion battery is 3.6V, the working voltage of lithium manganese oxide lithium ion battery is 3.7V and the working voltage of lithium iron phosphate lithium ion battery is 3.2V. The nickel hydrogen and nickel cadmium battery The operating voltage is only 1.2V.


(2) High energy density. The theoretical energy density of lithium ion battery cathode material can reach more than 200W·h/kg. In practical applications, due to irreversible capacity loss and the energy density is usually lower than this value. But it can also reach 140W·h/kg, which is still nickel cadmium. 3 times the battery and 1.5 times the nickel-hydrogen battery.


(3) Long cycle life. At present, the cycle number of lithium-ion batteries can reach more than 1000 times under deep discharge condition. Thousands times under low discharge depth condition and its performance is far superior to that of other batteries of the same kind.


(4) Self-discharge is small. The monthly self-discharge rate of lithium-ion batteries is only 5%-9% of the total capacitance, which greatly alleviates the power loss caused by self-discharge when the traditional secondary batteries are placed.


(5) No memory effect.


(6) High environmental protection. Relative to the environmental pollution problems caused by the waste of traditional lead-acid batteries, nickel-cadmium batteries and even nickel-hydrogen batteries. Lithium-ion batteries do not contain harmful elements such as mercury, lead, and cadmium. It is a true green battery.


Application Status of Lithium Ion Batteries With the rapid development of mobile electronic devices and increasing energy demand, the demand for lithium ion batteries is increasing. Lithium-ion battery has high capacity, moderate voltage, wide source and long cycle life, low cost, good performance and no pollution to the environment. It is decided that it can be applied not only to mobile communication tools, but also to the power supply of electric vehicles that are now rapidly developing.

(1) In the field of portable electrical appliances, mobile phones, notebook computers, micro-cameras and other appliances that require portable power supplies have become an indispensable part of people's lives. In terms of its power supply, lithium-ion batteries are the mainstay of the market without exception. According to statistics, the global mobile phone production is nearly 2.1 billion each year. The world produces about 150 million laptops a year. Therefore, a huge market for lithium ion battery applications has been formed. In this field, lithium cobalt oxide and lithium manganese oxide lithium batteries dominate.


(2) The application in the transportation industry has progressed with the social civilization. People's awareness of environmental protection has increased and environmental requirements have increased. Environmentally friendly vehicles have entered the field of vision.  At present, electric light-duty vehicles based on electric bicycles in China are showing a booming trend. Lithium-ion batteries have begun to be used in some high-end models. In the development of electric vehicles, lithium-ion batteries have become mainstream.  In China, more than half of the electric vehicles developed by many automobile development and production companies have adopted lithium-ion batteries, and they are gradually expanding. Internationally, pure electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid vehicles that have been marketed have been announced. For example, Nissan's Leaf, Mitsubishi's i-MiEV, and General Motors' Volt all use lithium-ion battery systems.


(3) The application in military equipment and aerospace industry is in military equipment. Lithium-ion batteries are mainly used as power-on power sources, wireless communication radio power supplies and micro-unmanned reconnaissance aircraft power supplies. In addition, lithium-ion batteries are now commonly used, such as laser sights, night vision devices, and pilot life-saving radio power supplies. In the aerospace industry, lithium-ion batteries have been used in geosynchronous orbit satellites and low-orbit communication satellites as a means of launch and in-flight correction, ground operations.

(4) Other lithium-ion batteries have their own structural features and special working principles. It is characterized by its rich raw materials, environmental protection, high specific capacity and cycle performance.
